"This is the best system I have ever heard of!! Being new in the Dayton area, we were not sure who we could trust and since most of the time that I would need a sitter was during the day, I could not rely on highschool kids. We love that we don't have to worry when we go out or have to run some errands. The kids are in great hands. Being a mother of two toddlers, it is great knowing that if I need a break I can call them a couple days ahead and they are always there for me with help. "Oh, how I long for the carefree days pre-baby. The days of just picking up and GOING wherever it is you wanted to go. It isn't even the amount of stuff that Little Dude comes with - we've managed to get that under control - it is the Sitter Situation. I am going to tell you a secret, but you have to promise not to use it to your advantage or pass it on to any of your other Mommy friends. Because if you do, then my Sitter Situation will worsen. And you don't want that on your conscience, do you?

The secret is this: There is a FANTASTIC sitter service in Columbus called The Sitter Connection. I believe they started in Dayton, but now have franchises in Columbus and Toledo. Now, I get no money from promoting this service. Just the satisfaction of knowing that I may be helping other moms in my situation. Seriously, check them out. The Sitter Connection uses local college gals (in my experience, there are a lot of nursing and education majors) as contracted sitters. They do fingerprinting and background checks. I couldn't be that thorough if I were looking for a sitter myself! We've had excellent experiences with them and we've been using them since December. They all seem to be sweet gals. There is also always evidence that J has actually been played with when we get home not just stuck in front of a Baby Einstein video for the 3 hours we were out. If I have one gripe, it's that they don't have enough sitters to fill the demands of all of the hard-up Mommies like us out there. So, when they have no sitters for me on a Friday night, it's me, Jack, Daddy and the Backyardigans for another date night. I rely on them heavily. It is so difficult to find a good, caring, engaged sitter. All of the sitters we've used through the Connection have been just that. I recommend them. But, you know, not too highly, 'cause I'd like to leave the house once in a while too, you know."

My husband and I moved to Dayton from Arizona with our 10 month old son with no family/friends to speak of. Not knowing anyone and really needing some mommy/daddy time was very difficult until one day in the mail we received an advertisment for the Sitter Connection. I checked it out and ever since we have been using the service! We now live in Columbus and have had a reoccuring sitter (same girl every week throughout the quarter) for the past year. This is an amazing service! We don't have family in town and it's been a struggle to find a regular sitter, so the sitter connection has been a lifeline for us. They are especially great for daytime appointments and when I need sitter help so I can work on freelance projects. They recently filled a last minute request for a Saturday night. I was impressed!
