How long has The Sitter Connection been in business? The Sitter Connection began in October 2003 for families in the Dayton area. After talking to parents, there were many people who were looking for babysitters, but didn’t know who they could depend on. The solution was to find caring, dependable people in the area who wanted to babysit because they love children. The Sitter Connection was created so parents do not have to worry when they have an appointment or have plans.
What is the procedure for me to get a sitter?The first step is to submit your registration through this website. After The Sitter Connection has received your information, you are ready to use the service. When you need a sitter, just give us a call, email, or submit your request by logging into your account at our front page. Let us know your name, the date you need the sit, the start and finish time of the sit, and number where you can be reached. You will receive an email as soon as we confirm a sitter. Confirming the sit usually takes about one day.
How soon should I call to request a sitter and how long does it take to confirm a sitter? The sooner you call us, the more guaranteed you will be to have a sitter. We will try our best to fill same day and day before requests. We normally fill all requests in one day. After your request has been filled you will receive an email and the sitter's name will appear in your account.
What if I have to cancel? If we have not filled your request, you can cancel the request yourself in your account under the Upcoming tab. There is no charge for canceling a request that has not been filled. If you have to cancel and we have already confirmed the sit, then you are still responsible for the full placement fee. If you cancel within 24 hours of the sit, then you must pay the full placement fee, plus $15 -- the sitter will receive a portion of this fee. If you cancel after the sitter has already arrived, then the full placement fee and full sitter fee applies. For more information on rates, please see our Rates Page.
What if my sitter cancels? Unfortunately there are times when a sitter has to cancel. We do our best to backfill your request with another one of our sitters. In the event we cannot replace your sitter, you will be given a placement credit toward a future request. The Sitter Connection cannot be held responsible for the loss of use, cancelation fees, or any other penalties incurred due to your scheduled sitter cancelling.
Can I request the same sitter every time? We welcome your requests and we do our best to get the sitter you request if she is available. Any sitter previously placed with your family can be selected in your account when requesting your sit.

If I return home earlier than I had planned, am I required to pay for the scheduled time? Our sitters are college students on a tight budget. They select babysitting assignments expecting to be paid for the hours requested. As such, you are required to pay the sitter for the hours you requested.

I need a full-time sitter. Is this something The Sitter Connection can provide? Yes. Beginning in 2011 we began offering part-time, full-time and live-in nannies. Since a college student's schedule does not lend itself to full-time assignments, our nannies may not be currently enrolled in college. That being said, our nannies have a minimum of five years of childcare experience.
